my dad had lung cancer died recently he was paraplegic ex smoker and his room was an extension adapted but was dampy mouldy from time to time there would be visible damp in the concers and also i've seen what it does at the back of furniture black spots of damp. cos he was paraplegic he was in the room all the time in bed do you think that the damp would have contributed to the lung cancer?

There have been suggestions that fungus may be a causal factor, but I don't know how rigorous these studies are. Some are linked with 'alternative medicine' and whilst it would be foolish to dismiss it without looking, it makes it lose credibility. Google the link between cancer and fungus.

Black mold fungi can cause upper respiratory illnesses. There are anecdotal information that mold can lead to leukemia, but not lung cancer Your father's cancer had nothing to do with dampness. I'm sorry for your loss.

It's much more likely the smoking contributed to the lung cancer. Fungi can cause other illnesses but not generally cancers.
