i guess im looking to see how dangerous both second hand smoke is and without any contact of smoking how possible it is to get cancer of the lungs.

There are different types of lung cancer. Small cell lung cancer (about 20% all lung cancers) - 99% of patient are smokers or ex-smokers. Non-small cell lung cancer (the other 80%) - cigarettes are still a major cause, other causes being occupational exposure such as asbestos, radon, hydrocarbons and metals such as chromium and nickel.
