Are there any fundraisers for lung cancer awareness like there are for breast cancer

Are there any fundraisers for lung cancer awareness like there are for breast cancer?
I'm in Delaware, if that helps. And if not, how could I organize one? Any tips or ideas? @ Rape or â€ Abuse - I appreciate your answer, but that's not what I asked.

There is very little funding for lung cancer research. Since almost all cases are a result of chronic exposure to tobacco smoke it is considered a preventable condition.

if i smoke one cigar once a day will i still get lung cancer

if i smoke one cigar once a day will i still get lung cancer?
also i used to have asthma when i was like 6 but i can run and everything and ive smoked before and i didnt get an asthma attack or anything...... i basically wanna know how many times or how much i can smoke without running the risk of lung cancer or a heart attack

No one can answer this. Some people can smoke once and get lung cancer. Some people can smoke two packs a day and die with perfect lungs, when they're 90 years old. Unfortunately, your best bet would to NOT smoke at all. No reason you should risk it.

From my experience, one turns into three. And you run a high risk of getting asthma again because of the smoke. Why do you want to smoke anyways?

There is no definite answer. I had two aunts who never smoked and died of lung cancer. Winston Churchill smoked all his life and died of something else not related to smoking.

What illnesses can trigger lung cancer?
Do you know of any diseases or sicknesses that can cause lung caner? I know there is one that does...but I can''t remember the name of it! Please help!

Illness doesn't cause lung cancer. True, Notalone, my dad had emphysema for 20 years before it killed him. He always said the drs were trying to give him cancer because they kept checking for it. He never had cancer of any kind, not does anyone else I've met with emphysema.

According to the medical news journal dated June 6, 2009, New research shows that chronic bronchitis and emphysema increases the risk of lung cancer. Note that is says 'increases the risk' that doesn't mean everyone with bronchitis and/or emphysema will get lung cancer.

mesothelioma from asbestos is a big one today. There are so many job trades that most males could have worked in at one time in this country and been exposed. I sometimes wonder if they tried to pawn most of it off on tobacco. But that's just me. A conspiracy behind every corner. Lol! Also, don't forget COPD, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder
