it doesn't always take years. tell him to see a doctor.
2 :
Tell your dad to call out to God out loud and ask God to heal him. Once your dad is healed tell him to thank God and follow God by reading the bible often and talking to God often out loud or in his head.
3 :
You ask how may years does it take to get lung cancer? not everyone gets lung cancer and lots of non smokers get lung cancer because of the chemicals we breath in and the additives and E numbers in our food. What makes him think he has lung cancer? My dad smoked for 60 years before he got lung cancer and he stopped smoking and they removed part of his lung and he recovered, 3 years later he was diagnosed with bowel cancer and died 6 weeks later? We don't know who or at what age someone may get cancer, you are thinking because he smoked he will get it, that is not right, go and search food additives and E numbers and you will see that food we eat every day and chocolate, cakes, biscuits, take aways all have cancer killing chemicals in them?

Can smoking for two months give you lung cancer

Can smoking for two months give you lung cancer?
or will your lungs clean themselves out? for instance if someone smoked weed for two months or the equall to 75 blunts. are lungs pretty good healers/regenerators?

No you wont get lung cancer from two months of cigarettes or weed The lung start cleaning themselves out after a period of a week after you quit smoking
2 :
One can not get cancer by two months smoking. Body,s immune system is able to clear out damage if you stop. Our all organgs are good healers if we live healthy life.
3 :
They don't know what causes cancer but smoking, in some cases contributes to it. I smoked for thirty-seven years, up to four packs a day and quit almost fourteen years ago. They tell my lungs look good but it affected my heart. I never smoked maryjane but I cut and burnt acres of it before they fined you for it growing on your property!

Does smoking cigarettes prevent lung cancer

Does smoking cigarettes prevent lung cancer?
I heard that smoking prevents you from getting lung cancer and extends your lifespan. Is this true? I was being sarcastic. God, have you people ever heard of sarcasm? I just wanted to see how people on here would react to this question and you all reacted as I predicted.

How obnoxiously stupid MUST you be to even ask a question like this? J
2 :
its pretty much the opposite dumdum...
3 :
Riiigghht - because that's what all of the studies and literature say, too.
4 :
no its not true my uncle died 2 months ago from smoking cigs. and he had lung cancer
5 :
No. But there is research which suggests that smoking can decrease the amount of radiation (from nuclear fallout) that is absorbed in your lungs. But that isn't a great reason to start smoking!
6 :
It is the opposite, and you know it. However, even though your questions sounds stupid on the face of it, if heart disease from smoking killed you before you got lung cancer then I suppose in some warped way it did prevent lung cancer.
7 :
Smoking cigarettes could certainly prevent a person from getting lung cancer-by causing the person to die of a heart attack.
8 :
Our grandparents may have smoked all their lives and lived into their ninties. WE DON'T THAT LUXARY. Our environment i.e the air we breath is so toxic with heavy metals and pollutants, what hope do our lumgs have if we smoke as well. Lung cancer here we come. cheers
9 :
Yepp and excessive drinking makes for a healthy liver. dumb.
10 :
Noooo, it couldn't be... Or people(smokers) would be just about living longer then us. Isn't it the opposite?
11 :
actually, it's vice versa. think about it...it's nicknamed "cancer stick"...
12 :
You have been duped. Smoking can and does cause lung cancer, and also expiates asthma and other lung conditions. And it most certainly does not extend your lifespan, if any thing it can shorten ones life span considerably.
13 :
sure not, its Cigarette companies owners lie!
14 :
You must be kidding. Smoking is the very worst thing you can do and is one of the biggest reasons for lung cancer as well as other cancers. This is the biggest like I have ever heard. Whoever made this statement needs to wake up.
15 :
even non-smokers get lung cancer so? you want to smoke? we will find out may be twenty years later.

What are the symptoms of lung cancer, please read

What are the symptoms of lung cancer, please read?
when i was age 3 to about 7 or 8, i lived with my step mom who smoked all day, every day. i didint know at the time how bad it was and i would be by her constantly inhaling 2nd hand smoke. Now im wondering if i should get checked or not. stupid me, also smoked off and on from 9th to th grade, and a few times smoked marijuana. ive always had problems breathing and such since i was very young and im 18 now, should i get checked, what are the symptoms?

It would be extremely rare, almost never heard of, that a person your age would have lung cancer. The early symptoms of lung cancer are a persistent cough that lasts for weeks. If your breathing difficulties are distressing to you - your family physician can check that out for you with a quick listen through a stethoscope. Stay away from cigarettes and weed - both can cause cancer.
2 :
its very unlikely to be lung cancer but more likely to be a chronic bronchitis or such as that, maybe even an asthmatic bronchitis. get checked out by a doctor as these are highly treatable
3 :
coughing and you can't hardly breathe I hope you go to the doc ,

does weed make you get lung cancer or is that just ciggarretes and how bad is weed for you

does weed make you get lung cancer or is that just ciggarretes and how bad is weed for you?
?? like i know its bad for your brain but does it really like kill your lungs as bad as nicotine?

The content in the article may be inaccurate (as stated on the website; see link) 1) Most marijuana smokers smoke the bud, not the leaf, of the plant. The bud contains only 33% as much tar as tobacco. 2) Marijuana smokers do not smoke anywhere near as much as tobacco smokers, due to the psychoactive effects of cannabis. 3) Not one case of lung cancer has ever been successfully linked to marijuana use. 4) Cannabis, unlike tobacco, does not cause any narrowing of the small air passageways in the lungs.
2 :
Okay. Weed is not bad for your brain. It can foo with your memory a little, but those effects usually go away after 2-4 weeks, and aren't really that bad unless you're smoking a LOT. It does not destroy brain cells. However, it is a little bad for your lungs (inhaling any kind of smoke, including incense). Not NEARLY as bad as cigarettes (though one will want to try to avoid some shady imports that are sometimes sprayed with harmful pesticides). Smoking a joint is not going to give you cancer though. Smoking a dozen joins will probably not raise your chances of lung cancer by any noticeable amount. In fact, there are ways of smoking which decrease damage to your lungs, such as water pipes (which filter the smoke, thus much of the tar out through water) and vaporizers (which sort of 'evaporates' the THC into a purer form, with no smoke at all). Feel free to IM me with any further questions, if you want.
3 :
Well a doctor told me that weed is 3-6 times as bad to smoke as cigarettes where your longues are concerned. edit: actually nevermind that, they just told me that there's only a small correlation between weed and cancer unlike cigarettes and its better for your longues. However they did tell me that people who smoke it are twice as likely to become schitzophrenic then those who don't and you can lose your drive and become lazy.
4 :
Just don't drive after you smoke, please.
5 :
Smoking ANYTHING can give you lung cancer... Even second-hand smoke kills millions every year. Weed does more psychological things than cigarettes do and is generally more addictive... You need your brain just as much as you need your lungs!
6 :
Any foreign substance that you directly inhale is bad for your lungs. I don't care what bogus studies the weed smokers want to cite. Most people that I know - and I know a lot - who smoke week do it in addition to cigarettes and alcohol. Most of them have chronic bronchitis, regular respiratory infections, low motivation levels, impaired motor skills and a propensity to be impulsive.
7 :
Yes, it does kill your lungs, just much slower than cigarettes do, though it actually has no proven long term effects as far as mental state goes over time.
8 :
Smoke is smoke, period. It will disease the lungs, Just because one kind makes you happier than the others, does not mean you will not get cancer of the mouth, lungs or anywhere else.
9 :
There are so many differences in cannabis (weed) and tobacco you can't even compare them. They burn at different temperatures which means their smoke have different compounds. Tobacco use is for the alkaloid toxin nicotine, the plant uses for killing insects Cannabis use is for the cannabiniod content *(many similar compounds) that the plant uses for UV protection. Ironically, Nicotine both causes cancer and can cause brain and heart damage. Where as cannabis may actually be a good treatment or even a preventative measure against nicotine's effects. Sadly, almost nothing the average american knows about pot is even remotely true and had to be installed into our minds thru early propaganda. Think about it, when is the last time you hear some one over dose on pot?
10 :
Actually smoking weed is worse for your lungs than cigarettes. HOWEVER, you would never smoke as much as a tobacco smoker does AND weed is not addictive thus, it is better for you in that sense.

How much larger of a chance of developing lung cancer do I have than that of a person that wasn't exposed to

How much larger of a chance of developing lung cancer do I have than that of a person that wasn't exposed to:?
Second hand smoke for 12 years, and who doesn't have severe/mild-persistent asthma? Because I have developed severe asthma over the last year or so (it's increasingly gotten worse,) and I was exposed to second hand smoke for the greater part of my life. I'm only fifteen. I'm scared that I might have to deal with lung cancer when I'm older.

well what i know it's 2 times more likely :( here's a vid but not sure if it's what u need? http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2234721/7055871 my advice is just start and live a healhty lifestyle your body heals more quikcly and efficently when it's more healither so that might be able to dealy or combat your chance of lung cancer :) good luck ^^ and may we all pray
2 :
the chances are the same for everybody, either it lies dormant or it doesn't, but it is greater for someone that has been exposed to it then not...and just because someone gets/has lung cancer does not mean that they were a smoker
3 :
I grew up around second hand smoke until I was about 14, I had asthma that was getting worse as I was around it. I would not think that you could have cancer now but later in life I do think you have a higher risk than the regular person does.
4 :
I understand your worry about cancer but you don't have it right now and don't know if you will get it. But I wanted to address your asthma. Being around second hand smoke is definitely hard for an asthmatic, but your triggers might be allergy related too. I did not have asthma until I became allergic to cat dander, dust, pollen, rabbits, etc. in my twenties. I was also a smoker, and I actually kept in under control for several years. But the last 10 I would find myself in the hospital with severe breathing problems, at least twice a year. Now I still take my allergy pill, and I have stopped smoking and do not allow anyone to smoke in my home either. I feel great. I actually didn't quit smoking until I had a heart attack. I guess I have a thick skull!! Good luck to you and try to push for a non smoking living enviroment. It can only save hospital and doctor bills later on.
