Need a good song kinda a theme song for my dad that is fighting lung cancer

Need a good song kinda a theme song for my dad that is fighting lung cancer!?
My Step-Dad last week found out he has lung cancer. We are planning several occasions for get togethers to show him our support and the communities support. He is kinda a tough guy...motercycle rider...type but has a huge heart! Can anyone think of any songs about being tough or staying strong not being scared...that kind of thing? Any genre.

there are lots of good songs. "I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey "Headstrong" by Trapt "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor "Chariots of Fire" by Vangelis "I Feel Good" by James Brown
4 :
I can't think of a song, but there is a great poem about it. Rage Against the Dying of the Light by Dylan Thomas Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Even a tough biker guy would be moved by these words. My father was a hard a** Marine all his life, and I brought him to tears with this poem when he was dying. I'll pray for your step dad and your family. Best thoughts to you all. Thumbs up to you folks who could remember the songs.

How about standing outside the fire (Garth Brooks) or No Fear (Terri Clark) both songs are used for/by charity groups for special events...I think they'll remind him to stay strong and not to give up hope

Given you smoked the same amount in your lifetime, which would be more likely to cause lung cancer

Given you smoked the same amount in your lifetime, which would be more likely to cause lung cancer?
Marijuana, crack, or tobacco?

This is the wrong group for this question.
2 :
Pure forms of each? I would still say tobacco. It coats your lungs. The others dont put as thick a layer. Tobacco has its effect because it literally takes away some of your oxygen. Mj has the chemical thc which interacts with you. Crack is just wack. Crack will with out a doubt kill you first though.
3 :
tobacco or pot. they have the same effects on the body, but pot is generally better for you - the health benefits can outweight the negative. crack - well, that's just stupid. btw - 420, babby!!!!
4 :
Tobacco,
5 :
if you smoke pole you will get AIDS/HIV
6 :
tobacco or crack for sure. crack would probably kill you of something else before lung cancer. however, if you get past all that the smoke is harsher than tobacco, so it's a good chance for lung cancer. tobacco has many, many chemicals added to it. from rat poison, to embalming fluid, to things used to make bombs. good idea...not. marijuana has no added chemicals, and is nothing but natural. there's been studies showing that smoking marijuana can reduce tumor growth. i pretty much saw that first hand. my friend's mom had cancer, chemo, and a short time to live. she got so weak she had to cut her hair off because she didn't have the energy to style it. she's smoked marijuana for a very long time. she had stopped chemo for a while, and was taking oxycontin and other pills. actually, she was trading them for marijuana. marijuana was the only medicine she took. she went back to the doctor to get tested and find out when she would start chemo again. guess what? not a single trace of cancer. how did cancer magically disappear? i would bet on it that the marijuana helped, as nothing else did. a lot of things you hear about marijuana are not true. do some research and you'll see.

I forgot his name for the moment. He's somewhat famous for the various scientific conclusions which he denies.

Fred Singer. Follow links under his name in wikipedia To be exact, he helped the tobacco companies in their disinformation campaign and likewise the fossil fuel companies.

There are a few. Fred Singer is one. Richard Lindzen is another, though he just says the link between the two is very weak. Frederick Seitz (now deceased) was another.

Eric, it is hard to know exactly what the future holds for your friend. You will have to take things as they come. He may have pain if the tumour spreads to his bones, but this can be helped with strong painkillers and possibly radiotherapy. He may become very frail towards the end of his illness, and you may need help nursing him.
2 :
Hello Eric: Every one is different to some degree. As to how fast will he die this is where it can vary Some of us hold on for years at stage 4 and others are gone with in just a few months. I know that when you use a agency to help take care of him. your looking at close to 2,000 dollars a week but if you hire a home nurse your self with out a agency it will cost around 3 to 5 k per month. not a week. Also the doctor near the end of live will have a in home nurse that they can send out to give shots of morphine to help with the pain. as well as daily medication and help you to help them not be is a lot of pain. And try to keep there attitudes up not down. that too helps with the pain level Keep them laughing. It helps with the endorphin level so the pain medication will help more. I am fighting right now but I consider my self to be a survivor. I have been fighting cancer for 32 years. Last week the doctor said I have to go for more surgery so next week I go back in. But I am a fighter and I know this is the attitude you have to have in order to fight cancer. And read every thing you can about cancer and new treatments than contact them. I want to go to Washington DC to see Doctor Sugar baker he is doing some research and I really want to try it my doctor said that may be my only hope at this point. And the lady yesterday who got the life time medical achievements award from the president is one of two doctors who helped me 32 years ago. So I was glad to see her on TV. So I know how important research is. I hope your person you love makes it or at least is not in much pain. I hope I was able to answer your question. But stage 4 means that the cancer has spread and most of the time we don't live long after that. But some of us refuse to die, that's me.
3 :
Hi Eric, Unfortunately, if liver cancer is found in the final stages it might be hard to fix especially if it has become metastatic. A liver transplant is usually the only way to survive. The following are the symptoms of final stage of liver cancer Cirrhosis,Jaundice,Metastasized,Fever,Loss of Appetite,Pain.sleep. you can get more information about every stages of liver cancer. from www.livercancer-stage.com. this might help you know what you are going to face during the rest of your friends life.
4 :
At first, you may collect as much information as you can by inputing the relevant keywords in search engine,if you get good luck there ,then your problem is solved.nevertheless,if you could not find the ideal answer for your question by doing that, here http://www.HealthInsuranceFree.info is the resource i suggest.

physical and emotional changes. I have had no side effects as yet except a bit tired.

The physical and emotional changes vary from person to person. Some people are able to continue working and going about their normal daily routines without much trouble. Others are wiped out by it. I was able to continue working through my first two rounds of chemo without too much trouble. Take it one day at a time, and let your friends and family help with whatever chores you don't feel up to handling. If a friend says let me know what I can do, ask them to pick up groceries or run to the dry cleaners, drive you and keep you company during your chemo treatments...
2 :
Hello, I hope you have a friend or family member that goes with you for your treatments. My wife had a dose-dense chemotherapy meaning she went in every week for a certain length of time. She had 15 weeks of two types of chemotherapy drugs and then surgery and now is on week 11 of 12 weeks of Taxol for Breast Cancer. Everyone reacts differently to the drugs, but what is common about it is the cumulative effects of chemotherapy. Like you write the first one makes you tired, then it goes downhill from there. She experienced constipation, mouth sores (if you have not done this get an air purifier and keep it in your bedroom, it helps with chemotherapy; that is what her Naturopathic doctor suggested we do, and my wife can tell the difference when it is not running) She also experienced watery eyes, aches that seem to travel to different parts of her body, fatigue, and numbness in her fingers and toes. Her nails have fallen out or cracked, and she has had hair-loss about the 4th week. The Cytoxin seemed to be the worst, once she got off of that she felt a lot better. She is on her last week of Taxol, and she seems to by crying a lot lately. She has been on chemotherapy drugs for 26 weeks with a two week break for her mastectomy. So, I imagine she is sad too about losing her breast. But I know that the drugs hurt her and I have found her in curled up in a ball in bed crying. If it ever gets too much for you, let your oncologist know. My wife puts on a brave front when she see's her doctor but they do not know how much she is really suffering. She is my hero. Good luck on your journey, it will be over before you know it. Dave

one of my oldest and dear friend has just diagnosed with lung cancer

one of my oldest and dear friend has just diagnosed with lung cancer?
and has been given two to 1 year to live....how do you deal with such a blow. currently she is in ICU and is not aware of what is wrong with her, a decision that was made by her son. what a sad, sad "conviction'! would you tell her or just let it be?

sorry to hear thatmy condolences to you and your friend. the best advice i can give you is to leave things as they are it is better that your friend not to know because it eases the burden of eventual happening and if your friend was to know now it would hurt for a very very long time i know i`ve been there so sorry for you
2 :
It's her body, and her life. It certainly isn't your place to tell her, though; leave that to her doctor anf family members. If it was me, I'd certainly want to know. It may, however, be a moot point now, though-- she's already in the ICU.
3 :
she needs to be notified, it's her life, she needs to make the decision on how to handle it, it's no one's decision but her's. Now of course her son can make suggestions but not any hard decision on how the remainder of her life should be spent. My grandfather was just diagnosed with lung cancer about 3 weeks ago. This was a difficult thing for me to cope with because he and my grandmother practically raised me. Well turns out they caught it in the early stages and he has already undergone surgery to remove his lower left lobe, now we are just waiting on the results to see if it spread. So i feel where you are coming from, to have someone close to you going through so much pain, all you wanna do is drop everything and sit next to them and cater to their every whim, but this is a life changing diagnosis she needs to deal with, and i'm sure having you close by would make it much easier on her...good luck
4 :
I would ask her. Such a choice to know or not know should be hers to make. Perhaps when she is out of the ICU and not in such a critical condition would be the best time to share with her about her condition assuming she wishes that information. My husband has pancreatic cancer and he has been given months to live. So I can relate to your question.
5 :
It is her life so you have got to tell her, even if it's not what she wants to hear. Her son has to right to take from her the knowledge and decisions about her own health. My mother in law was diagnosed with a year to live from lung cancer and she lived for 5. When the docs say a year to live it rarely ever means less than that. Doctors will usually try to paint as grim a picture as possible so that whatever happens it looks like things are going better than expected.
6 :
No I'm not selling you anything, no books, no product, nothing. Just please have your friend get on the Budwig Diet (FlaxOil + Cottage Cheese Mixture) and look at the results. This is all I want you to do. If she is in the ICU, have her use the Champagne with the mixture so her body can absorb it easier. IJust have her try it for a few weeks.
7 :
Firstly, that is terrible news for you and you have my deepest sympathy. I have a lot of experience of people dying, and arising from that I have firm views on the best way to deal with it. Secondly, it is up to your friend to ask the questions about her own health - nobody should be subjected to a shocking prediction of death without asking for the truth. It helps to remember that actually nobody knows when any one of us is going to die - it is possible that she may survive you. Doctors cannot say for sure how long she will live. I knew one person who was given 6 months to live with lung cancer and died the following day. I also know one who lived for 19 years with it - mostly with good quality of life, and another who lived for 7 miserable years............ What counts most is the quality of life while she is alive. And in my experience, if there is little treatment available for her type of cancer, then an acute hospital is to be avoided as much as possible. If you have the opportunity to talk to her, I would encourage her to enlist some palliative care as early as possible. It really prolongs life, and many people who experience good hospice care say they were the happiest times of their lives. There is such love and care available, and such a positive and honest atmosphere..and these contributes hugely to the patient's sense of wellbeing. The greatest pity I see in cancer care is not the death rate - its the dishonesty of putting people through difficult treatment with little hope of recovery. Better face the truth, and have a good quality of life - whatever time is left. My most recent experience was of a dear friend, who after 29 days of 120 mile round trip for radiotherapy, was finally told he had hours or days at most to live. He enlisted the help of a hospice, and had 7 wonderful weeks at home, during which he married, and had many parties - albeit from his bed. His pain and distress - endured at this stage for months, was gone 24 hours into the new regime. He received massage, and lots of tlc - it was wonderful for his children and his family/friends who helped care for him. I strongly recommend leaving the curative and cruel treatment behind at a certain stage, and enjoying the rest of what life can offer. Hope this helps
8 :
sorry to hear that, but there are possiblities she could live longer who know. but if you feel strongly that she should know or that she would want to know then you should tell her son that. i wouldnt come right out and tell her against her families wishes but you should convince them to let you or someone else to tell her. i went through chemo myself and almost died four times, if i were going to die i would have wanted to know. my cousin did die of cancer and he knew i think it helped him. so i think you should encourage her family to tell her. and just be there with her so when she finds out she doesnt feel alone.

Can smoking marijuana increase the risk of lung cancer

Can smoking marijuana increase the risk of lung cancer?
or is it just tobacco?

Yes it can! As a matter of fact, some researchers argue that marijuana is more harmful than cigarettes in terms of causing cancer.
2 :
I'm pretty sure that sucking in hot, thicker than air material that was just on fire isn't good for your lungs.......cancer not withstanding.
3 :
yes it can
4 :
Y E S So don't smoke it all the time! Don't smoke it at all, OR, if that is not an option, smoke it once a week or less.
5 :
no it cant fuck the media
6 :
definately dont do either unless you want lung cancer (one of the most lethal cancers)
7 :
Are you smoking a joint while you are typing, cause if not you are a complete dumbass..of course it can smokin is smokin brutta..thats why you should do the coke like me and my bruttas do, ya dig dog?
8 :
The evidence on this is not conculsive, however, by using a vaporizer you cut out all that stuff. Vaporizers are the way medical marijuana patients consume cannabis, and the way everyone should. It is safe and the most healthy way to partake in medical marijuana.
9 :
THERE HAVE BEEN NO STUDIES TO LINK MARIJUANA SMOKE TO LUNG CANCER but thc has been shown to reuse the the chances of getting cancer the smoke also contains 4 times the tar of cigarettes so who knows the scientists don't
