Try Googling 'survival rates stage 3b non small cell lung cancer'.
2 :
Stage III-B Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer has a five year survival rate of approximately 10% according to the American Cancer Society. http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_4_3x_How_Is_Non-Small_Cell_Lung_Cancer_Staged.asp?sitearea= The numbers are based on people diagnosed between 1998 and 2001, and the numbers may have improved somewhat since then. But the prognosis is generally fairly bleak for this stage of cancer. A few links where you can learn more about this kind of cancer: http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/treatment/small-cell-lung/patient http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_2_1x_What_Is_Non-small_Cell_Lung_Cancer.asp?rnav=cri http://www.emedicinehealth.com/non-small-cell_lung_cancer/article_em.htm

Unfortunately not good. When my mom told me she had lung cancer, stage 4 I think, I asked her what the doctor said about prognosis. She never told me, and said doctors don't talk about that, they focus on curing you. When I read about it, it said most patients don't last past 5 years, and I couldn't believe that, especially since there were times where the tumor was nearly gone and she was doing good for awhile. The chemo, radiation helped her for a little while, the drugs did nothing, and she passed away 2 1/2 years after she was diagnosed.

how does lung cancer prevent some one from maintaining homeostasis

cancer is weird, it acts in alot of different ways, thats the problem in answering your question, there are multiple ways cancer can effect someone. Youd have to know how the cancer is acting in order to predict how it would prevent you from doing that, it could even go so far as to penetrate the blood-brain barrier get into your hypothalamus and complete cut homeostasis out
2 :
Tumors often produce hormones, mainly to encourage their own cancer cells to divide, but often due to gene amplification resulting in large amounts of a hormone being made. These can increase metabolism causing weight-loss and also have various endocrine affects. More so this would be the case when lung cancer is due to a lung Adenoma which is a cancer of glandular tissue. The tumor also diverts blood supply and nutrients to its own high metabolic tumor cells (no wonder lung cancer patients loose weight!). Metastatic tumors arising from the lung cancer can affect the function of other organs and how they work, spread to bones could affect the bone marrow and heamopoiesis (blood cell formation and differentiation). Spread to brain could cause brain disorders and psychological problems, arising from neurological problems and these may affect homeostasis, blood pressure etc.

I think I'm starting to get paranoid about lung cancer

I think I'm starting to get paranoid about lung cancer?
I have a cough that started this morning, an can taste blood at the back of my throat. My chest hurts when I press on it. I get easily fatigued for no specific reason (though this is most likely a result of my depression.) I'm also 13. Is there a chance that this is cancer, or am I just being excessively paranoid?

Paranoid.
2 :
You are excessively paranoid. 13 year-olds do not get lung cancer and cancer should never be your first thought when you do not feel well, have a bump, lump, pimple or scrape รข€“ especially at your age.
3 :
You are just being excessively paranoid. There is no chance for this to be cancer.
4 :
Sounds like you have a simple upper respiratory infection. See your doctor for Pennicilin. You do not have Lung Cancer.

Can Lung Cancer be cured in 10 days

Can Lung Cancer be cured in 10 days?
okay so thers this guy on msn and i think he just says things to get attention kuz everyday i tlk to him he says something like oh my grandma just died or i got hit by a car and a couple days ago he says he had some severe lung cancer and i felt really bad for him and now hes like oh my cancer is all gone. and the doctors found a 'good cure" and so can cancer be cured in 10 days? i dont think so.

Actually its possible, but unless the federal government has made human trials possible of this drug (which I do not think they have yet) he is full of it. And no doctor would say in only one visit of 10 days that it is totally gone either. They would watch them for several YEARS before they would say that they are then cancer free. Dont believe this guy.
2 :
you're right, it's just for attention. You cannot surgically remove lung cancer, and radiation therapy takes quite awhile.... so I would have to say no
3 :
Dr. Tulio Simoncini might not agree with the ten day timeframe but he has a a radical new approach to cancer and its treatment. He sees fungal infections as the underlying cause of cancer has had great success in treating cancer with an antifungal that would rob the multi-billion dollar pharma industry of any cancer treatment revenues. However Dr. Simoncini advocates a new direction in the development of antifungal cancer treatments for which the pharma industry should participate.
4 :
of course it is possible
5 :
No "severe" lung cancer can be cured. Period. More less cured in 10 days. The only thing that might come close to this is an early stage non-small cell lung cancer that was surgically removed before it had a chance to spread. But, as you didn't mention any recent surgical procedures, I doubt this is the case. Sounds like you have quite an attention seeker on your hands.

How long does a person with both Throat AND Lung cancer normally have to live?

Not long I'm afraid to say. If cancer has effected you or your family I'm so sorry, lost my grandad to cancer of the larynx and my dad had cancer of the small intestine.
2 :
People do not normally have throat and lung cancer at the same time. Without knowing at least the stage of these diseases it is impossible to answer you.

My father in law is caughing up clear fluid. He has heart blockage & cancer in his lung should we be concerned

My father in law is caughing up clear fluid. He has heart blockage & cancer in his lung should we be concerned?
He has spots on his lung, but the doctors haven't specified if it's cancer or not. They believe it is. The spots have not grown in 6 months or more. He is too weak to undergo chemo therapy. The blockage in his heart is major and he is also too weak to undergo open heart surgery. What are your feelings on this?

My feelings would be amazing that he's so weak. Is he weak due to the stress level or the actual body functions of being stressed. Let me explain. Stress can take a big part of a person's life. It makes them feel weak. If the heart is blocked it must be pumped out. If it doesn't get pumped out he can die. Technology can assist with his weakness for open heart surgery. I don't understand why doctors haven't done this surgery. Is it your father in law who refuses treatment? My mother had heart problems and needed heart surgery and she refused than died. The clear liquid of course needs to be checked. It could be pneumonia. I was told that a person's lungs does get congested and the best solution would be to cough it up. As long as the cough liquid don't turn red. It's a bad sign that the spots turned into a tumor or cancer. Coughing up blood is a bad indication for Cancer. Just go see a doctor ASAP.
