months in comfort instead on continuing aggressive and painful care. Do you palins out there think hospice is a death panel?

No, because Hospice STILL gives any requested care while the patient is home. They will not deny you treatment based on your projected "need".
2 :
Your question sounded reasonable until you got to the Palin drivel. I'm gone.
3 :
Of course they do! And little do they understand that the "death panels" exist right now - and someone profits from that decision as opposed to a government employee making the decision for no extra monetary gain. But again, that could never exist in the private sector, right??
4 :
I agree Hospice is a great program for the person dying and their family been there done that and yes I think Palin considers them a death panel
5 :
Hospice is a voluntary program , and I am sure Palin supports it, it is a limited program, I know I was just released from it as I out lived it.It is only 6 months, I was in it for 6 months, and released last week. My insurance company paid for it as well, they would have extended it, however the hospital Iuse does not go beyond the six month limit. They are also very expensive 6K a mnth is what they billed my insurance

What percentage of people who smoke regularly end up dying from lung cancer or other smoking related diseases

What percentage of people who smoke regularly end up dying from lung cancer or other smoking related diseases?

i dont know, but it should be 100% coz smoking is disgusting

the ones that don't get shot.

There are more variables to this question than you might think. That's why statistics aren't always accurate. Ex: Did you know that France, where 1/3 of all adults are smokers, have the lowest cancer rate in the West? How could this be? By no means condoning smoking. Just wanted you to consider this fact, too.
4 :
Ironically, not as many as people that are exposed to second hand smoke for 8 hours or more a day-- like people who work in bars and don't smoke. Your lungs may be bad but to a nonsmoker, that smoke is toxic and causes more irritation to a nonsmoker than a veteran smoker of 10 years--- don't get me wrong here, you still have a high incidence of dying from smoking, but it depends on how many years, how many packs a day, and how old you are now- and did you know that if you quit today in one year you lungs will look as good as new?....it's true- ask a doctor...............

her fave flower, fave bird, an object that reminds you of her, a heart w. her name , just her name, retro swallow tattoo with it carrying a banner w. her name on it
2 :
i think you should get a portrait of her...
3 :
Go to your tattoo artist. They have the best ideas.
4 :
if she had a favorite quote you could get that, or if she had a favorite author, get a quote that they say. see what year she was born in and you could get the zodiac animal.
5 :
Did she have any hobbies? Perhaps if she liked to knit, you could get knitting needles. If she liked to garden, you could get flowers she planted. If she was always cooking, you could get a rolling pin. With memorial tattoos, it doesn't have to be literal. It can be something that means a lot between you to and will remind you of her, without having just a name and a heart.
6 :
why do u want to to put tattoo for that? is there is any use of it? just go hospitals or any other orphanage and serve people with same disease which ur grandma had or anyone.. when u get time... rather then spending money on tattoo help some one with that.... ur grandma will surely feel happy.. it is just a honest opinion....
7 :
My grandma also died of lung cancer, I got love in her handwriting on my ribs.

As an ex-smoker, what are the chances of dying from lung cancer. And should we get tested more often afterward

As an ex-smoker, what are the chances of dying from lung cancer. And should we get tested more often afterward?
I smoked for 21 years. You would think there was a need for a long term ex smoker to see how the lungs are holding up aferwards...but you never hear about follow-up health checks.

1 :
People who have never smoked a drag in their life may die from lung cancer. People who smoke like chimneys from childhood until their senior years, may not develop or die from lung cancer. There are no guarantees...smoking simply increases your risks of lung issues and some other health problems. Quitting sees the risk of those things go down somewhat, but unless you are quite for many years, your risk remains higher than someone who has never smoked (and has no other predispositions to those issues). When you go for your yearly physical, talk to your doctor about wanting to know the condition of your lungs and if they are improving after quitting.
2 :
I think you can get a chest X-ray to show if their has been any scarring in your lungs but I have heard some figures that may give you hope. Supposedly if you stop smoking you get back around 75% of your lung capacity. If you want to increase your lung capacity even more start running, you may need to watch your weight more since you no longer have the nicotine in your body.
3 :
There is some testing ongoing to see if scans are a useful screening tool. To date, getting CT scans has not been shown to improve survival. You just have to hope you are lucky. I too smoked for 25 years. The scans I had for breast cancer showed some tiny lung nodules, but evidently these are pretty common. That's the problem with using highly sensitive scans as screening tools. They reveal all kinds of "internal freckles" that must then be followed or tested further to make sure they aren't malignant. The vast majority are not. So ... in short, there is currently no screening test for smokers or ex-smokers that has shown to have any benefit to their survival.
4 :
How many packs did you smoke a day over those 21 years? 1 Pack a day for 1 year = 1 Pack-year 2 Packs a day for 1 year = 2 Pack-years etc Doctors ignore the fact that you have ever smoked unless you have more than 20 Pack-years.

How do people die from lung cancer? explain conditions, symptoms, and things leading up to death. How could she have gotten lung cancer? (besides smoking or any other drug) Please help! Because the docter explains what has happened so I need an answer a doctor would give.

just an idea; have your main character with other siblings (if there are any) and have one of those before-death talks that you see in the movies. then, the mother coughs continously and the child(ren) are ushered out of the room as doctors and nurses rush in. throw in some dialogue with a doctor or something and then do a flatliner. just a thought....
2 :
well sometimes cancer is hereditary(passed through the family) so you don't necessarily have to be a smoker. the lungs can start to weaken and the disease can spread through the blood till its ruled as blood cancer and effects the whole body. lung cancer, your lungs can start to bleed and flood, leading to suffocation and death. my dad passed of stomach, blood, and bone cancer so i know what it can do to a person. with lung cancer, your lungs can burn, ache, and you can cough up blood constantly. since your lungs are weak, they cant filter out most bacteria, so you may be sick with colds or flus often. hope i helped. =)
3 :
like "gamer" said Have it in hushed tones. The children right theyre she could hand a daughter a necklace or something then dockters could rush in (the eldest might have called in advanced) and then have them rush the children out. they try giving her some antibiotics or medication but all odds fail she just dies no sudden rath of pain or anything then the eldest child sits and mourns while the youngest plays not realizing anything any middle-aged childern cry.

This is your character and you want us to explain how dies? No one knows what causes cancer – any kind of cancer. When a doctor tells the patient’s family the patient died they do not go into details. When people die from lung cancer or most other diseases it is usually due to heart failure.
2 :
well, there are a lot of things that can bring on death, unfortunately. a build up of fluid around the lungs, called pleural effusions, can overwhelm the system and cause heart failure and respiratory failure. pneumonia is common, and the person's system is just overwhelmed. yes, smoking is the most likely factor, but there are people who don't smoke. waitresses who worked in smoky environments are at risk, for example.
