The content in the article may be inaccurate (as stated on the website; see link) 1) Most marijuana smokers smoke the bud, not the leaf, of the plant. The bud contains only 33% as much tar as tobacco. 2) Marijuana smokers do not smoke anywhere near as much as tobacco smokers, due to the psychoactive effects of cannabis. 3) Not one case of lung cancer has ever been successfully linked to marijuana use. 4) Cannabis, unlike tobacco, does not cause any narrowing of the small air passageways in the lungs.

Okay. Weed is not bad for your brain. It can foo with your memory a little, but those effects usually go away after 2-4 weeks, and aren't really that bad unless you're smoking a LOT. It does not destroy brain cells. However, it is a little bad for your lungs (inhaling any kind of smoke, including incense). Not NEARLY as bad as cigarettes (though one will want to try to avoid some shady imports that are sometimes sprayed with harmful pesticides). Smoking a joint is not going to give you cancer though. Smoking a dozen joins will probably not raise your chances of lung cancer by any noticeable amount. In fact, there are ways of smoking which decrease damage to your lungs, such as water pipes (which filter the smoke, thus much of the tar out through water) and vaporizers (which sort of 'evaporates' the THC into a purer form, with no smoke at all). Feel free to IM me with any further questions, if you want.

Well a doctor told me that weed is 3-6 times as bad to smoke as cigarettes where your longues are concerned. edit: actually nevermind that, they just told me that there's only a small correlation between weed and cancer unlike cigarettes and its better for your longues. However they did tell me that people who smoke it are twice as likely to become schitzophrenic then those who don't and you can lose your drive and become lazy.

Just don't drive after you smoke, please.

Smoking ANYTHING can give you lung cancer... Even second-hand smoke kills millions every year. Weed does more psychological things than cigarettes do and is generally more addictive... You need your brain just as much as you need your lungs!

Any foreign substance that you directly inhale is bad for your lungs. I don't care what bogus studies the weed smokers want to cite. Most people that I know - and I know a lot - who smoke week do it in addition to cigarettes and alcohol. Most of them have chronic bronchitis, regular respiratory infections, low motivation levels, impaired motor skills and a propensity to be impulsive.

Yes, it does kill your lungs, just much slower than cigarettes do, though it actually has no proven long term effects as far as mental state goes over time.

Smoke is smoke, period. It will disease the lungs, Just because one kind makes you happier than the others, does not mean you will not get cancer of the mouth, lungs or anywhere else.

There are so many differences in cannabis (weed) and tobacco you can't even compare them. They burn at different temperatures which means their smoke have different compounds. Tobacco use is for the alkaloid toxin nicotine, the plant uses for killing insects Cannabis use is for the cannabiniod content *(many similar compounds) that the plant uses for UV protection. Ironically, Nicotine both causes cancer and can cause brain and heart damage. Where as cannabis may actually be a good treatment or even a preventative measure against nicotine's effects. Sadly, almost nothing the average american knows about pot is even remotely true and had to be installed into our minds thru early propaganda. Think about it, when is the last time you hear some one over dose on pot?

Actually smoking weed is worse for your lungs than cigarettes. HOWEVER, you would never smoke as much as a tobacco smoker does AND weed is not addictive thus, it is better for you in that sense.
