Apparently Dr can hear a difference in your lung sound before you even notice symptoms. If you have symptoms of something that is not normal for you, see a Dr and get a diagnosis, don't try to self diagnose, you may find your symptoms don't fit cancer, but that won't mean you have nothing that needs treatment.

try this link see if it helps http://www.webmd.com/lung-cancer/tc/lung-cancer-symptoms http://www.emedicinehealth.com/lung_cancer/page3_em.htm
3 :
It is impossible to diagnose yourself. The symptoms of the most common lung cancers are non-productive or changing cough, hoarseness, hemoptysis, anorexia, weight loss, dyspnea, unresolving pneumonias and chest wall pain.

A cough that wouldn't go away was my only symptom before being dx'd with stage iv lung cancer. The only way you can tell for sure is by getting xrays, or better yet, a CT scan.

I don't have to google anything, I know. there are very different symptoms, as I had 3 brother who died of lung cancer. They all smoked quite heavy. all of them always coughing especially in the mornings. As they grew older their stamina declined, their breathing became shallow. One gave up smoking 4.5 years prior to his death, age 54. He had pains at the back of his leg, and was treated for sciatica. (for ages). But by then the lung cancer had gone to the bones. The second one aged 63 died quite quickly, except an awful cough and loosing lots of weight he had no other symptoms. the 3rd die aged 74 a slow death with Oxygen to help him breath. They all lived otherwise a healthy life and were in lots of fresh air. They all were breathing very badly towards their end and none of them could have been saved with operations, Chemo Therapy or Radiation. A 4 brother stopped smoking 5 years ago, he too is on Oxygen day and night, and probably wont see the year out. My last and 5th brother never smoked and he is 68 but his health is of a 45 year old. my sister never smoked age 78 is still very healthy. Now me, I am not proud to say that I only gave up the fags a few years ago, and since then my breathing capacity has improved greatly. So I just pray, that God keeps me healthy for many more years. Good luck to you too

Not everyone will but it is very possible.
2 :
It is very possible
3 :
it depends what is meant by heavily ..but i doubt it..it is also important to note that there is still only a correlation between smoking and lung cancer..we cannot say for sure that it is a causation
4 :
It's improbable. Chances are, as a smoker, you've been exposed for much longer than you yourself has been smoking. If people around you have smoked for many years, you may be more susceptible thanks to second hand smoke. Don't take any chances, though. Be sure to get checked out.
5 :
possible but my grandfather has een smoking 2-3 packs a day for 64 years and hacks up black stuff but no lung cancer id suggest you stop he coughs all the time and walking is very tiring to him
6 :
Not normally to be expected unless your diet has been most unusually bad.A good diet contains a fair amount of raw fruits and vegetables. A very bad diet contains almost totally cooked refined over sugared, salted greased food and scarcely any nutrition.
7 :
let me put it this way... my dad smoked for a few months (not very heavily), but after i was born he decided to stop. he went to the doctor about 10 years after he stoped and he was checking his lungs and he goes "you used to smoke, right?" it was 10 years after he smoke for a few months and the doctor could still tell he smoked... how likely? VERY likely, your best bet, stop smoking NOW before its too late. my grandfather is very sick from his lungs for smoking and he has to be with oxigen contantly or he cant breath.... seriously, the best thing you can do is to stop right now.

It is very possible, If you think you might have , then get checked out immediately. Cancer is not a respecter of people, it can happen to anyone. If someone is coughing up "black stuff" something is wrong that is not normal!! Smoking can cause other cancers than lung. Also other things besides smoking can cause lung cancer. GET INFORMED
9 :
Cancer is a result of DNA signatures that you cannot control, that are being amplified by external influences like cig' smoke, asbestos, and evolution. You obviously can't control evolution, but you can clearly control your contact with asbestos and cig' smoke. Outside-infuences, even down to deodorant, can affect the encouragement of problems-due-to-DNA-processing-inadequacies. No person is immune, no matter how careful you are. But, PLENTY of folks are magnifying the probability through smoking and other actions. Just stop now. We all know it causes it, and has caused more deaths than all of the wars combined, each year! Cancer can creep up in other parts of the body for other reasons too. No need to roll the dice and toss tobacco-use into the chances.
10 :
Not likely at all. I wouldn't worry about it.
11 :
not everybody's bodies react the same to chemicals that why some can take a certain drug with no effects and others cant also its a genetic thing if your family has a history of cancer it is very possible ps i have cared for many people with lung cancer its a horrible painful way to die

With out getting to involved in the politics of smoking let me put your answer in a way that you'll get to answer your own question. Based on the way you worded your question, I'm assuming the question your asking, simply put, is what are the odds of your getting cancer after only have smoked for a year. OK, here goes. What do you think the odds of the airoplane your a passenger in, flying from your local airport to anywhere in Europe, of crashing would be? Well, what'a ya think? Low,eh. What's that? Wad ya say? "Very low". I agree. In fact, in my opinion? Even lower than that. Don't worry about it. Under the circumstance, I'd even go so far as to say, the stress of worring about it would kill you quicker.
13 :
likely, especially since your so young, your body is still developing and you are already destroying it by smoking, not only you're at risk for lung cancer, you're also at risk for emphysema, throat cancer, mouth cancer, heart attack, etc. Maybe not now, but a few years from now.......yes, some people do smoke and live long, but it's just a small percentage of very lucky people. Do you want to gamble with your health and even life and see if you are one of them?
14 :
theres always that possibility...everyone is different on wether or not they will find out they have some type of cancer.....

15 :
Unlikely, but 10% or so of patients who get lung cancer never smoked at all.

4 :
Smoking a pipe with good pipe tobacco, is least likely to give you cancer. Pipe smokers don't inhale like cigarette smokers do.
