No, just because the rate of the cancer gene going up means there would be more cases of cancer doesn't mean the rate of cancer cases going up is related to the gene. I statement offered no reason to believe the gene is becoming more common then a guess at why there are more cancer cases. There are other things that could cause the cancer rate to go up like the lifestyle of today’s middle age, the higher pollution, ect. There is to much not being considered for the statement to be accurate.
