the same thing anyone else who gets lung cancer...get treated n continue till death. muahah
2 :
for the people who actually NEED it, the amount they smoke is not enough to cause lung cancer. (THC actually repels cancer cells) --EDIT-Though THC does not cause cancer, marijuana does contain carcinogenics, that do cause cancer. You can stay away from these by eating it, or using a vaporizer

Die, probably, but we've all got to die of something.

Funnily enough, there is no proof that smoking Cannabis causes lung cancer. On the contrary, in fact, any attempt to prove that it does cause lung cancer has completely backfired. Instead 2 possibilities have been found: Smoking Cannabis either has no cancerous effect on the lungs at all or alternatively it has a positive effect in that it reduces your chances of getting lung cancer. THC, the psychoactive chemical in Cannabis, has been found to be anti-cancerous. It is so, in 2 ways: 1) It induces programmed cell death in cancerous cells. (It makes cancerous cells kill themselves). Whilst at the same time leaving healthy cells alone. 2) For cancerous tumours to grow, blood vessels must be formed around the tumour. THC has been shown to stop this process of blood vessel growth at tumour sites, so tumours can not grow anymore. 2) - this point stops the tumour from growing and spreading further. 1) - this point causes the tumour to retreat until it has been completely killed. So there is no answer to your question, as medical marijuana users are less likely to get lung cancer than.. for example.. you.

You can't get lung cancer from smoking weed. THC does not only not cause cancer but it is the cure for it. Don't believe me then check out my links and see for yourself.

A lot of the time medical marijuana comes in pill form...so there isn't really any smoking involved. There are shops in the states that it is legal in that have several different forms of marijuana that you can buy, and if you don't want to smoke it you definitely have other options. Aside from that, there isn't any proof that weed has detrimental effects. There was a study done, I believe in the 60's or 70's, where scientists determined that weed could kill you, but the test came under scrutiny when it was revealed that the monkies used in it were actually gas masked and had approx 15 joints worth of weed give to them through the gas masks, causing the monkies to suffocate and die. Not because of the weed, because of the oxygen they were deprived of. I suggest you watch one or more of the many documentaries available on weed. I've very much enjoyed the ones I've watched, they're informative and fun.

Cannabis does not cause lung cancer. In fact in studies they have found that regular cannabis smokers have less instance of head, neck, and lung cancer than non-smokers. Cannabis inhibits the growth of cancer tumors. More people really need to do their research. BTW, cannabis does not have to be smoked. It can be vaporized, eaten, used topically, or in a tincture. MARIJUANA CURES CANCER-----> "Numerous diseases, such as anorexia, emesis, pain, inflammation, multiple sclerosis, add/adhd, AIDS, depression, neurodegenerative disorders (Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, Tourette's syndrome, Alzheimer's disease), epilepsy, glaucoma, osteoporosis, schizophrenia, cardiovascular disorders, cancer, obesity, and metabolic syndrome-related disorders, to name just a few, are being treated or have the potential to be treated by Cannabinoid agonists/antagonists/Cannabino id-related compounds." Basically cannabis helps the body function normally and disease is not normal. Do your research. The govt' and pharm. companies are profiting from its prohibition. Spread the word. there has not been one case of anyone getting lung cancer from marijuana only smoke.

Pot does not cause lung cancer. And since you seem pretty uppity about the topic, let me ask you this...What do people do when their Dr. prescribes them Oxycontin and they get into a car accident? Or, what do people who use muscle relaxers do when they take a dose that relaxes their HEART and die? Wake up, man.

Well actually the medical marijuana is of high quality, so you arnt going to find added chemicals in it, and also there is no scientific proof that it causes lung cancer. In fact science shows us right now that it can prevent cancer growth. New creations such as vaporizers have been created and these new inventions are a proven safe way to get the thc from cannabis. With a vaporizer the thc that is ingested is virtually 100% tar free, and is not hard on the lungs at all. Thc pills are available as well, and you can use cannabutter for cooking purposes such as brownies. To answer your question I believe the medical patients should be worry free from the use of their medicinal marijuana. Its good there is medical marijuana out there instead of addicting harmful pills or other prescriptions with some nasty side effects. Unless they smoke death sticks of course that's a guarantee to cancer.
11 :
They aren't. At least if they don't smoke cigarettes. Marijuana helps get rid of lung cancer rather than cause it. It is not harmful. Especially if it is vaporized or eaten.
12 :
That's only cigarettes
13 :
i just want to say THANK YOU to all those who answered this question, I wish there were more people who thought this way in this country!
14 :
thast why they invented vaporizers! weed actually doesnt give you lung cancer, its the process of "smoking" it just like with anything else such as cigarettes!
15 :
You can buy a $10 vaporizer online. there is no reason to smoke anything any more. stop treating this like a drug and start treating it like a medicine. There are ton's of people advertising for rooms to rent and housing at 420roomsearch.com you can see that a lot of people consume but do not smoke it. Good luck

There's only one way to be sure... You shouldn't smoke at all.
2 :
There is no way you could possibly get lung cancer from smoking pot for 3 months. I'm sure there is something else triggering the coughing.
3 :
nahhhh you can't. then only thing that can happen when you smoke pot is you can lose some of your memory. but that's only after you have smoked it for a long period of time, and by long i mean like 40 years or so.
4 :
Theoretically it could be a factor, but in and of itself....HIGHLY unlikely.
5 :
yes but it's extremely rare, you can get cancer from smoking 1 cigarette, you most likely have a cold
6 :
Nope. Not after 3 yrs. either, even with daily use...
7 :
there have been no cases where marijuana was the DIRECT cause for lung cancer. you most definately do not have lung cancer, unless it is from something else, but im sure your fine
8 :
I'm going to say no. But you have to consider did you inhale something else. You may just have a cold or bronchitis. i'm sure you'll be fine.
9 :
Pot doesn't cause lung cancer.

While the chance for anything theoretically does exist, the number would be so small as to be insignificant. Smoking marijuana has finally been shown in years of study that it does not cause lung cancer, but actually may exhibit a slight protective effect against lung cancer. This information came from one of the largest studies on marijuana and cancer. The study originally started with the intention of proving the harms of marijuana, but after many years of contradicting results, they have had to unexpectedly conclude marijuana is not linked to lung cancer. This is despite several known carcinogens in marijuana smoke. Researchers believe it may be due to the anti-tumor properties of THC. THC also functions as an anti-oxidant, reducing oxidative damage to cells by binding to and neutralizing free-radicals (You have probably heard the term "free-radical" before. A radical is simply the a part of a molecule or ion with unpaired electrons. Unpaired electrons want to pair up if at all possible, meaning they will bond with other atoms or molecules. Free radicals in the body are bad because they bond to often important molecules that they aren't supposed to bond to. In biological systems, molecular level geometry, or the shapes of the molecules, determine their function. If a molecule now has an added "piece" stuck too it, it won't perform the same task since its shape is altered. If you are interested in less controversial, more nutritious sources of anti-oxidants, goji berries, other berries, green tea, and pomegranates are very high sources of antioxidants. But in short, there is a 99.9999999% chance that you do not have lung cancer. Smoking weed will build up tar in the lungs, and yes you will cough some. If you smoke cigarettes, that is most likely the cause. Also consider that weed is actually an expectorant (stimulates cleaning in the lungs) which will make you cough up a lot of the nasty tar, particles, and even pollution in your lungs. This is another way cannabis counter balances some of the negative effects of smoking. People who smoke both cigarettes and cannabis live on average 7 years longer and have lower rates of cancer and disease than those who smoke only cigarettes. If one wishes to continue cannabis use and minimize the impact on their body, they should smoke from glass as opposed to metal or papers. Blunts, although extremely enjoyable, should be limited as the tobacco wrap is still bad for you. Bongs and water-pipes help even though they don't effectively filter tar. They do filter ash and fine particles that would get caught in your lungs as well as some of the other elements of the smoke. New carbon-filtered bongs do offer a significant increase in filtration, as most carcinogens, free radicals, and hydrocarbons (such as tar) bind very readily to activated charcoal. This is much like a carbon drinking water filter. This combined with water will result in cleaner smoke. Also hurricane brand bongs filter out a large amount of tar due to the inclusion of air inlet jets in the body that spin the smoke in a strong vortex. The spinning tornado of smoke acts on the same principle of a gas centrifuge to spin the heaviest particles in the smoke (tar) to the outside. As the smoke rises, it enters successively smaller chambers, smearing the tar on the glass and removing an appreciable amount of it from the smoke. Vaporizers are a very safe method of use. Although expensive, a medical vaporizer heats the plant matter to the boiling point of THC, much lower than the combustion point. Since the plant never actually burns, it results in near pure THC vapor, and delivers none of the tar or other pollutants that result from combustion. Eating cannabis cooked in butter is also a completely safe method of administration. When taken orally, there are no negative health effects on the body.

What are some obvious symptoms of lung cancer in an 84 year old man

What are some obvious symptoms of lung cancer in an 84 year old man?

An elderly former or current smoker with lung infiltrates (as seen on x-ray) along with a cough and purulent sputum (with or without fever) should be assumed to have lung cancer until proved otherwise. Other potential lung cancer symptoms besides chronic cough would be weakness, fatigue and pneumonia-like symptoms. In the elderly, lung cancer usually manifests at a less advanced stage, and treatment, therefore, is usually more successful. http://www.merck.com/mkgr/mmg/sec10/ch81/ch81a.jsp Get a chest x-ray done if you suspect lung cancer. good luck

Signs you can see obviously are wheezing/shortness of breath and clubbed fingers.

Often, sadly enough, there are no early symptoms til lung cancer is in its later stages. I had a pain under my ribs, thought it was a bronchial attack.. had xrays, suspicious masses found.. ended up with multiple scans, biopsy and diagnosed with stage iv lung cancer.. never saw that coming!! So its important to get unknown pain checked out, listen to your body. Even at stage iv, I still don't have the symptoms listed yet was given only a few months to live at my diagnosis.. weird.. but it happens.. be careful and be safe. Clubbed nails and wheezing is a sign of all respiratory diseases, not just lung cancer. symptoms of lung cancer: General symptoms of lung cancer The symptoms of lung cancer can be Having a cough most of the time A change in a cough you have had for a long time Being short of breath Coughing up phlegm (sputum) with signs of blood in it An ache or pain when breathing or coughing Loss of appetite Fatigue Losing weight Less common symptoms of lung cancer There are other symptoms of lung cancer that are less common. They are usually associated with more advanced lung cancer. You may have A hoarse voice Difficulty swallowing Swelling of the face caused by a blockage of a main blood vessel from the head (SVCO) Swelling in the neck caused by enlarged lymph nodes Pain or discomfort under your ribs on your right side (from the liver) Shortness of breath caused by fluid around the lungs (called pleural effusion)
